Wow, can I relate to this. Three years ago, two days before Thanksgiving, I was released from the psychiatric unit of our hospital. I was grateful to be out but that was about it. I really wasn't grateful to be alive, I was still in too much pain. Each year that has passed now has been tough at that time. This year was not too bad. It was Thanksgiving Day before I realized it and I wasn't sad about the Tues. before! Praise God. My mom says time heals all wounds and I don't buy into that exactly but time does put things into perspective and allows some healing in the process. This Thanksgiving I find myself TRYING to be thankful. This is awful and I'm confessing it! I want to BE thankful. All year long. God is good so we should thank him no matter our circumstances!

[...] In my last blog post, I discussed some coping techniques for getting through the Thanksgiving Holiday and this morning I posted an article on Out of the Valley expanding upon that theme to include the entire holiday season. I would love for everyone to answer the poll and then add some of your own ideas for coping here as a comment.
